The Mining Industry Roadmap or Mining Technology Roadmap seeks to identify opportunities, R&D requirements and challenges to generate technological capabilities in the country, and develop a technology-based provider sector.
Additionally, this initiative hopes to achieve a common vision for everyone who plays a role inside the mining industry, through the articulation of suppliers and mining companies and the generation of consensus among the same actors. For its development, certain nuclei have been prioritized based on the main challenges defined by the industry, with the aim of identifying the challenges and solutions available in these topics, and the possible needs for human capital, R&D, infrastructure, technology, among others.
One of the main attributes of the Mining Roadmap is that it is a “live” document, which changes and adjusts to the needs of the new times. That is why, in view of the fact that the scenario in which we are moving is changing faster and faster, at the end of 2017 we started a deep analysis and prioritization work of the 2015-2035 Mining Technology Roadmap, aiming to develop new high impact collaborative projects that seek to generate greater productivity and sustainability in the industry. As a result of this work, the Roadmap 2.0 or Update of the Mining Roadmap was born, which has as its main novelty the incorporation of three new nuclei: exploration, green mining and copper uses.
