
22 Feb CHILEPOLIMETÁLICO CONDUCTS FIRST SEMINAR TO PROMOTE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MORE DIVERSIFIED MINING IN CHILE
During the meeting, the Chilean experience and research in this field will be reviewed and the project «Polymetallic Chile: Strategic Maps for the diversification of Chilean Mining», developed by the Alta Ley Corporation and Cochilco, will be presented.
On March 18th, in the city of La Serena, the seminar «Mining of non-traditional and strategic elements of value for the future of Chile» will be held, the first seminar carried out by the project born under the wings of the Alta Ley Corporation, Chilepolimetálico, with the aim of spreading the initiative “Polimetallic Chile: Strategic Maps for the diversification of Chilean Mining», developed by Alta Ley and Cochilco.
Through this initiative, co-financed by Corfo, the aim is to make visible the extractive opportunities of non-traditional elements of value, that is, the development of a Chilean mining industry with a polymetallic perspective -beyond copper-, providing relevant information for the start of new investments and development of mining businesses in Chile.
The seminar will feature various speakers, including Brian Townley, PhD in Geological Sciences from Queen’s University Kingston, Canada; Patricia Narváez, geologist from the University of Chile; Guillermo López, from Sernageomin; in addition to representatives of Cochilco and the Alta Ley Corporation.
During the meeting, which will take place at the Technological Center of the Faculty of Engineering (Cetecfi, for its acronym in spanish) of the Universidad de la Serena (Benavente 980, La Serena), the Public Good project: Polymetallic Chile, the potential deposits and tailings of polymetallic interest in the region, and also digital platforms open to the community to obtain mining-type information. Finally, there will be a conversation panel to discuss the current state of polymetallic mining in the region, the challenges it presents, the current problems, among other topics of interest.
